2. Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo in Charlotte, NC

The Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo is a small but tightly focused event all about groundbreaking medical technology and innovation in the healthcare industry. The expo features several education-focused sections where attendees can find in-depth learning opportunities. And along with the expo, there are more than 50 conference sessions, plus keynotes, workshops, and networking events.

Around 2,000 people attend each year, including:

3. American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting and Expo in Boston, MA

With more than 12,000 attendees and over 450 exhibitors, the APHA Annual Meeting and Expo is the biggest annual meeting of public health professionals in the U.S., and one of the most influential.

4. BIOMEDevice in Santa Clara, CA

Billed as Silicon Valley’s leading event for med-tech professionals, BIOMEDevice is small but mighty. More than 2,000 attendees and over 200 exhibitors gather in pursuit of excellence in the field of medical device design. BIOMEDevice showcases technologies that are more than cutting-edge; they’re futuristic, spanning a wide array of fields, including:

  • Minimally invasive diagnostic and surgical devices
  • Surgical robots
  • Digital health products

Dozens of industry experts and thought leaders speak and participate in educational opportunities each year, making this event a must for anyone in medtech. This event is especially suitable for local exhibitors, as nearly 90% of attendees are from the Bay Area. Around 80% of attendees have purchasing power, and two-thirds are working on an active project, meaning great opportunities for exhibitors.

In 2020 BIOMED was replaced with BIOMEDigital, a fully online education event held over two days in November. In 2022 the BIOMEDevice event is primarily in person from November 29 to 30 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California, but it also has online opportunities for three weeks beforehand and two weeks after.

5. Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) West in Anaheim, CA

As the largest annual medtech event in North America, MD&M West® is expecting over 13,000 attendees and 1,400 exhibitors for its next iteration in February 2023. For medical professionals and for people in the medtech industry, this event is not to be missed. It’s an important one for exhibitors, too, because:

  • 87% of attendees are buyers with purchasing power, or final-decision authority.
  • 98% of attendees are project managers.
  • 70% of attendees have an active project or are planning to begin a new project within the next 12 months.
  • 58% of attendees are high-level employees in executive management or engineering positions.

On the education side, this event typically includes at least four to six industry education tracks and dozens of sessions and speakers. Popular subjects in previous years have included product design and development, quality control, 3D printing, and smart manufacturing.

The Expo is equally large and includes presentations at Center Stage and the Tech Theater, along with networking events and access to thousands of suppliers. 6. CSUN Assistive Technology Conference in Anaheim, CA

The CSUN Assistive Technology Conference is the U.S.’s biggest assistive tech conference, with around 5,000 attendees and over 200 exhibitors every year. The event typically includes keynotes, research presentations, workshops, and other educational sessions, along with networking and social events. For exhibitors, it represents prime networking opportunities and an opportunity to showcase new and existing products, services, and solutions for the assistive tech market.

7. American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, NV

Around 28,000 people attend the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS). Along with more than 700 exhibiting companies, both the meeting and the exhibit are packed with people and opportunities. The AAOS event is the world’s largest orthopedic meeting, so it’s a great chance to network, hunt down new leads, and build industry visibility.

With over 12,000 national and international attendees and more than 700 exhibiting companies, the Florida International Medical Expo (FIME) is the country’s biggest medical and healthcare industry trade show. It showcases medical and hospital equipment, along with medical tech, products, and supplies, and new and emerging innovations and technologies.

FIME introduced several new features in 2019, including a dedicated zone focusing on the laboratory science industry, accredited conferences and seminars, and a digital networking platform. These and other features helped those in attendance generate $152 million in new business! 10. The American Diabetes Association® Scientific Sessions in San Diego, CA

More than 18,000 people attend the ADA Scientific Sessions every year to learn and share information about diabetes research, treatment, and management. The focus of this event is on the presentation of thousands of pieces of original research from all over the world.

11. The American Association for Clinical Chemistry Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo in Anaheim, CA

For its 21,000 attendees, AACC’s Annual Scientific Meeting offers the chance to connect with global experts in a wide range of subject areas. From clinical chemistry to translational medicine, molecular diagnostics, and other innovative fields in laboratory medicine, this event is well-attended thanks to its reputation for presenting cutting-edge research and technology.
